IndiGlobal Bharat Summit ends on a high note

  • Industry leaders, academicians and senior Government officials from across the country discussed and deliberated on a wide range of topics including skilling, food processing, tourism, Green jobs, Information Technology, education, employment generation, National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 roll-out
  • As part of the summit, a recruitment drive was conducted and students from Assam were given provisional offer letters by Hyderabad-based company RE Sustainability
  • Investors especially in the healthcare sector from across the country evinced interest to invest in Assam
  • The two-day mega summit attracted close to 3000 delegates including students from ITIs, Polytechnic colleges, degree colleges and other institutions in Assam

Guwahati: The two-day IndiGlobal Bharat Summit ended on a high note at the IIT-Guwahati campus here on Tuesday. Industry leaders, academia and senior Government officials from across the country discussed and deliberated on a cross-section of issues from verticals ranging from tea tourism, food processing, skilling and education, emerging technologies, tourism, handlooms & textiles, role of higher education in the 4.0 & 5.0 age, sustainable development, environment and Green jobs.

More than 3,000 delegates including students from different colleges in and around Assam attended the conference and as part of recruitment drive, students from the science stream were given job offer letters by RE Sustainability, a Hyderabad-based company. Sujiv Nair, CHRO, RE Sustainability, handed over the offer letters to the Chief Guest Shri Ranoj Pegu, Hon’Ble Minister for Education, Govt of Assam. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ranoj said that skill is a part of education.

Several companies and hospitals evinced interest in setting up business in Assam. Top officials of Assam Government are in talks with multi-specialty hospitals informed senior officials.

Assam can become a hub for medical tourism

Dr Om Manchanda, Managing Director, Dr LalPath Labs said that Assam has huge potential to take advantage of the opportunities the healthcare has to offer. It is one sector that is insulated and will not slowdown. It is 5th largest employer in India. Molecular diagnostics is growing at a fast pace and post Covid with home collection, the scope increased. Bhaskar Rao, Founder Chairman, KIMS said that there is a need for Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) in healthcare.

Jayanta Mallabaruah, Hon Minister for Public Health Engineering, Skill, Employment & Entrepreneurship and Tourism Department, Govt of Assam said that the Government is facilitating investments and will expedite the process without delay. He further added that Assam has everything in its favour and can become a hub for medical tourism in the coming years. In all 17 cancer hospitals are being established in the state.

Leaders exhort students to skill themselves and also take up civil services as a career option. Speaking at the panel on ‘The changing face of governance’ Radhika Rastogi, IAS, Special Director, Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) said, “Governance is changing. People should join hands and the government is promoting Self-Help Groups especially in agriculture. Krishi sakhi- group of women help each other and are becoming self-reliant. Similarly, Pashu Sakhi and Bank Sakhi is arming women to take the lead and live a life with respect. Cluster develops schemes -Group of famers from India went to Turkey to learn the mechanism of grape farming took infrastructure from the government and started exporting grapes to abroad. Even the last grade grapes that used to be discarded are now made into raisens that have a huge market in the Middle Eastern countries.
