Healthcare will not experience slowdown, it is insulated from outside issues said Om Prakash Manchanda, Managing Director, Dr LalPath Labs speaking at the recently concluded two-day IndiGlobal Bharat Summit at the IIT Guwahati. Organised by IndiGlobal Media Network in association with the Government of Assam, the mega summit brought together stake holders in nine verticals. Sharing his thoughts on the healthcare sector, Om Prakash Manchanda said that his association with Assam dated back to 2006 when the first lab was set up in Guwahati.
The second coming though has been more intensive and he stated that Assam was one of the few states in India where RTPCR tests were done without a hitch and during Covid, labs were set up in quick time. While several sectors are affected by market conditions and natural calamities, healthcare sector isn’t. Healthcare is the 5 th largest employment sector in India.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, home collections by diagnostics grew phenomenally. Mr Manchanda said that diagnostics is also meant for the management of disease and can also prevent diseases. Molecular diagnostics will grow very fast.
