The Haryana government has reportedly sought the return of four senior IAS officers currently serving on central deputation as it looks to strengthen its administrative leadership.
According to specialist administrative reporting, the officers named in the request are V Umashankar, Rakesh Gupta, Nitin Kumar Yadav and Vikas Gupta. The request comes amid concerns about the availability of senior officers for key state assignments.
Officers serving on central deputation cannot be treated as having returned to the state merely because a request has been made. Repatriation requires the necessary approvals and formal orders.

The issue has assumed added significance amid anticipated changes in Haryana’s top bureaucracy and the need to maintain continuity across important departments.
No final repatriation orders for the four officers were independently verified for this report. Their current assignments and any eventual posting in Haryana will depend on subsequent official decisions.
