Mumbai: In a significant leadership development, Saurabh Gupta has been promoted as Regional Director – Greater Mumbai Region, marking an important step in strengthening the leadership structure of KIMS Hospitals. In his new role, Mr. Gupta will be responsible for overall business growth, talent acquisition, and building strong strategic relationships with key stakeholders, while overseeing the complete operational and administrative affairs of the Greater Mumbai region.
The promotion comes at a time when the healthcare sector is witnessing rapid transformation, with increased focus on operational efficiency, patient-centric care, and sustainable expansion. Given Mumbai’s highly competitive and dynamic healthcare landscape, Mr. Gupta’s appointment is seen as a strategic move to further consolidate KIMS Hospitals’ presence and performance in the region.
Mr. Gupta is currently serving as Regional Chief Operating Officer for KIMS Hospitals, Maharashtra, where he oversees the group’s hospitals in Nashik and Mumbai. Over the past three years, he played a pivotal role in the successful integration of Sunshine Hospital into the KIMS Group at Hyderabad, contributing to smoother operations, organisational alignment, and improved performance during the transition phase.
Prior to joining KIMS, he served as Vice President – Operations and Business Head at the 1,000-bedded Medanta Lucknow. The facility is the second-largest hospital within the Medanta Group and the largest in Uttar Pradesh, where Mr. Gupta was responsible for driving operational excellence, growth, and large-scale hospital management.
With a professional career spanning over 22 years, Mr. Gupta has held leadership and consulting roles with Fortis Healthcare as Head of Strategy and Operations Excellence, and with global consulting firms such as McKinsey, GE, and PwC. During this phase, he executed healthcare projects across more than 10 international geographies and was instrumental in commissioning multiple greenfield and grassroots healthcare facilities. He has also served on the boards of several hospital organisations.

His core areas of expertise include hospital P&L management, organisational redesign and transformation, digital marketing and sales, accreditation processes, and feasibility assessments for healthcare institutions. An occasional writer and speaker, he regularly shares insights on emerging challenges and opportunities in the healthcare industry. He is also a certified external assessor with NABH, Quality Council of India.
Beyond his professional commitments, Mr. Gupta actively supports animal welfare initiatives and mentors young professionals entering the healthcare sector.
