Rajasthan to Promote 59 IAS and 42 IPS Officers from January 1

Rajasthan IAS & IPS Transfer

Jaipur, December 29, 2025: In a major administrative move, the Rajasthan government is set to promote  a total of 59 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and 42 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers with effect from January 1, 2026. The almost year-end roster of promotions is expected to trigger transfers and reshuffles across departments and districts soon after.

The promotions span from the junior to the senior echelons of the All India Services, marking a significant career milestone for many bureaucrats who have been awaiting elevation.

Among the IAS officers, four senior officers of the 1996 batch will be elevated to the prestigious rank of Additional Chief Secretary (ACS). Two officers from the 2001 batch –  Naveen Jain and Krishnakant Pathak – are set to move up from Secretary to Principal Secretary positions. Pathak, currently on central deputation, will receive a pro-forma promotion and is expected to return to the state cadre soon.

A group of 10 officers from the 2010 batch, including Jaipur Collector Jitendra Soni, will be promoted to Secretary rank. Transfers will follow these promotions, though some officials may remain in their current postings until formal reshuffle procedures are completed.

The promotions continue down the ranks:

  • 23 officers from the 2013 batch will advance from the Junior Scale to Selection Scale.
  • 10 officers from the 2017 batch will move to the Junior Administrative Scale.
  • All 12 officers of the 2022 batch will be elevated from junior to senior pay scale.

On the police side, 42 IPS officers will also see career advancement. Two officers from the 2001 batch will be promoted from Inspector General to Additional Director General, while seven from the 2008 batch will move up from Deputy Inspector General to Inspector General. Additionally, promotions to selection and junior administrative scales are slated for officers from the 2012 and 2013 batches.

Officials noted that these promotions are primarily based on length of service, though disciplinary inquiries or adverse performance reports could delay or withhold elevation for individual officers.

The extensive list of promotions is likely to set off a wave of administrative reassignments in the first week of the new year, reshaping leadership across key departments and districts throughout the state.
