Uttar Pradesh CM, Yogi Adityanath flagged off trial run of Kanpur Metro today. This flag off event has been held at Metro depot in Government Polytechnic, Kanpur. The CM did inspection of facilities available at the platform and also took a trip through the metro to inspect the facilities available inside it as per an official release.
Construction work of Kanpur Metro Rail Project was started on November 15, 2019. The trial run has been done on the 9-km-long primary section. There are going to be two metro corridors of about 32.5 km distance under the Kanpur Metro project. The first corridor runs from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) to Naubasta which is of 23.8 km. The second one is a 8.6 km long corridor which will be running from Chandrashekhar Azad Agricultural University to Barra. As of now, under the first corridor, the first section from IIT Kanpur to Motijheel has got completed. There are total of 9 metro stations in this section. Metro services for public is expected to be opened on December 31.
