$700 bn road map for future smart cities planned by Union Government

Centre is all set for major makeover of Indian cities in the next 10 years. To introduce world class amenities and technological benchmark, the union government has been working upon a $700 bn road map. Union Joint Secretary and Director of Smart Cities Mission, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Kunal Kumar IAS, said during the ‘Urban and Rural Development Week’ in Dubai Expo recently. He elaborated that between 2021 to 2031, the union government is all set to change the face of several cities in the country within the ambit of Smart Cities Mission and other initiatives like Clean India Mission, affordable housing, urban mobility etc.

The Union Urban Affairs Ministry has recently showcased its efforts in comprehensive urban development in India and has exhibited multi sectoral opportunities for the world in Dubai during the Dubai Expo. The sessions that were conducted during the Urban and Rural Development Week addressed themes like Resurgence and Responsible Real Estate, Alternate Real state, Electric Mobility, and Building Smart, Livable and Sustainable Cities, Smart and Sustainable Transportation etc.
