PM talks about being “Vocal for Local” and government’s plans to build new economy in villages in 2021 Independence Day speech

Addressing the nation on the occasion of Independence Day, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi stressed on the need to put all efforts to build a new economy in the villages in this decade. He said that not only the villages have witnessed change in the form of road and electricity but also change through the introduction of optical fiber network data and the Internet.

 This has led to emergence of digital entrepreneurs in the villages as well. He mentioned that more than eight crore women living in the villages, have been associated with Self-Help Groups, and design top-end products. He informed that the government plans to prepare an e-commerce platform for their products. This will help them get a big market globally.

Prime Minister said that the country is moving forward with the mantra of Vocal for Local and the planned digital platform will help in expanding the horizons by connecting the products of women self-help groups with people staying far and wide. This initiative would boost further enhancements in the life and income levels of people in the Indian villages.
