Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has extended his wishes on the occasion of Engineers Day to all the “hardworking engineers”. He has thanked the engineers for their exemplary contribution in making earth better and “technologically advanced”.
Prime Minister has paid homage to M Visvesvaraya, whose birth anniversary on September 15 is celebrated as ”Engineers’ Day” in India, Sri Lanka and Tanzania. He was popularly known as Sir MV. PM tweeted, “Greetings on #EngineersDay to all hardworking engineers. No words are enough to thank them for their pivotal role in making our planet better and technologically advanced. I pay homage to the remarkable M Visvesvaraya on his birth anniversary and recall his accomplishments.”
M Visvesvaraya was born on September 15, 1861, in Muddenahalli near Chikkaballapur, Karnataka. He was a world-renowned civil engineer, statesman and 19th Diwan of Mysore. He received several awards and honours including the highest honour of India, the Bharat Ratna, in 1955. Visvesvaraya has played a highly instrumental role in quality of living of modern India through his innovative contributions as an engineer.
