The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has reportedly approved a six-month extension for IAS officer Brij Mohan Mishra as Joint Secretary in the Department of Commerce.
Mishra, a 2008-batch AGMUT cadre officer, is reported to have received an extension beyond November 16, or until he is relieved for an assignment at the Indian Embassy in Tokyo, whichever comes earlier.
The arrangement would allow continuity in the Commerce Department during the transition to his overseas role. Such extensions are commonly tied to the timing of release and assumption of charge rather than a change in substantive rank.
The reported ACC decision appeared in specialist bureaucracy coverage on November 2. The original appointment order was not independently reviewed for this article.
