The Rajasthan government has placed senior IPS officer Prashakha Mathur on awaiting posting orders, according to a Personnel Department order issued on October 31. Mathur, a 1995-batch officer, was serving as Additional Director General of Police for Planning, Modernisation and Welfare.
The decision followed the placement of her husband, senior IAS officer Shikhar Agrawal, on awaiting posting orders. The state Anti-Corruption Bureau is conducting a preliminary inquiry into allegations concerning property transactions and possible misuse of official position by Agrawal.

The government order concerning Mathur cited administrative reasons. The existence of an inquiry into Agrawal must not be taken to mean that misconduct by Mathur has been established. Reporting on November 1 indicated that the ACB’s inquiry at that stage was focused on Agrawal, with no formal inquiry against Mathur announced.
The case has attracted public attention because it involves two senior officers and allegations concerning property purchases. Any conclusions about wrongdoing must await the outcome of due process and official findings.
