The Bihar government has appointed senior IAS officer C.K. Anil as Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department in a reshuffle that also changes responsibilities across agriculture and general administration.
A new responsibility in education
Anil was serving as adviser to the Bihar State Planning Board before the latest notification from the General Administration Department. His move places him at the administrative helm of a department whose decisions directly affect schools, teachers, students and families across Bihar. The appointment is an administrative change; the government has not announced a specific new education programme as part of the transfer.
Changes in agriculture administration
Arvind Kumar Chaudhary, Additional Chief Secretary of the Cabinet Secretariat Department, has been given additional charge as Agriculture Production Commissioner. He will also continue to hold additional charge as Controller of Examinations of the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board. Amit Kumar Pandey, Additional Secretary in the Revenue and Land Reforms Department, has been assigned additional charge as Additional Secretary in the Agriculture Department.
General Administration duties revised
Pankaj Kumar, Principal Secretary of the Home Department, has been relieved of his additional responsibilities in the General Administration Department, including the role of Inquiry Commissioner, according to the notification reported by PTI.
What the reshuffle means
The orders redistribute work among senior administrators rather than announcing a wholesale change of government policy. For the Education Department, attention will now turn to how the new Additional Chief Secretary manages ongoing priorities and coordination with district authorities. The changes in agriculture likewise place additional responsibility on officials already serving in other departments.
