Hyderabad : In a significant administrative development, the Government of Telangana has appointed senior IAS officer Sanjay Jaju (1992 batch) as the new Chief Secretary of Telangana. The appointment will take effect following the retirement of the incumbent Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao (1991 batch) on June 30, 2026, as per Government Order (G.O.Rt. No. 911) issued by the General Administration Department on June 26, 2026.
Sanjay Jaju returns to his home cadre after serving in key leadership roles at the Centre, including as Secretary in the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER). Widely regarded as an experienced administrator with extensive exposure to governance, urban development, public policy, and digital transformation, he now assumes the state’s highest bureaucratic office at a time when Telangana is focused on infrastructure expansion, investment promotion, technology-led governance, and citizen-centric public service delivery.
His appointment marks an important transition in Telangana’s administrative leadership. As Chief Secretary, Jaju will coordinate the functioning of all government departments, advise the state leadership on policy implementation, and steer the execution of key development initiatives across the state.

The appointment has been welcomed across administrative circles, with expectations that his experience at both the state and Union government levels will further strengthen governance, accelerate project execution, and support Telangana’s long-term development agenda.
