Vision for Assam in the next three years

Assam is poised for a prosperous future in the telecom sector as the state embraces digital revolution, with rapid advancements in technology, and an increased demand for telecom services. The state government has implemented a number of initiatives to promote the growth of the industry, including the Assam Broadband Policy 2019 and the Assam Digital Infrastructure Scheme. These initiatives aim to provide high-speed broadband access to all, create digital infrastructure such as mobile towers and optical fibers, and offer tax incentives for telecom service providers, including a 100% waiver on the annual license fee. These measures will ensure that the state is able to meet its needs for broadband and mobile data services, as well as other advanced technologies like 5G and the Internet of Things.

The telecom industry is spending INR 2,500 crore to expand 5G networks in Assam by the end of this year. As one of the fastest growing states for the past four years, we find that the youth of Assam have immense potential for international placements as ambassadors of our nation. Moreover, the growth of the state is an indicator for entrepreneurial opportunities within the state in both urban and rural fronts.

Telecom SSC has already setup one Centre of Excellence in Assam for Handheld device servicing, which empowers north eastern students to get job in India and even internationally. We at Telecom Sector Skill Council will be setting up more and more CoEs at Assam in technologies such as 5G, IoT, Drones, Line Assembly, Optical Fiber and more which will only augment the progress of telecom and employment in Assam.
