Justice Ujjal Bhuyan was sworn in as the Chief Justice of Telangana High Court on Tuesday. He is the fifth Chief Justice of the state High Court.
Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan administered the oath of office to Justice Bhuyan in a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy and senior government officials were present. After a gap of nearly one year, the Chief Minister of Telangana has met the Governor of the State.
Justice Bhuyan was named as the new CJ for Telangana on June 19.
He succeeds Justice Satish Chandra Sharma who has been transferred to Delhi High Court as Chief Justice. Justice Bhuyan is serving as a senior judge in Telangana High Court from Oct 2021 before his elevation. He is a native of Assam and a son of former advocate general Suchendranath Bhuyan. Justice Bhuyan did his schooling in Guwahati and graduated in Delhi before going back to his native place to pursue his law studies.
