Invest in teachers
Drawing attention to the teaching and learning process, he said the teacher is at the core of education and there was a need to invest in teachers. If a teacher is good, students can do wonders. Teaching-learning methods and evaluation were very important with evaluation becoming a major challenge. He went on to add that domain knowledge was important but at the same time the student should be skilled to get a job. Not just a degree, skill is important, he said.
A pertinent question is how one would teach first generation learners in remote areas. How could inclusiveness be brought into the fold? How can curriculum be tweaked to suit such students? These are the questions that one should ask he said. Teaching is a part of our lives and how it is shaping the expectations of the students.
