Telangana is the only state in India providing 24/7 electricity to farmers

Hyderabad: The turnaround in the power sector made by Telangana State has now become a case study for everyone to follow suit. It is also the only state to provide electricity to farmers. The state has turned from darkness to light, so said D Prabhakar Rao, Chairman and Managing Director, TRANSCO & GENCO. He was speaking at the 5th annual Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation Limited Awards here on Sunday.

When Telangana was born in 2014, it was 7778 mw, cut to 2021 it has risen to 17,000 mw. The T & D losses came down to 10 per cent. The State is implementing the ECBC Code. Sunil Sharama, Special Chief Secretary, Department of Energy, Government of Telangana shared, “The state is concentrating on several projects including waste to energy, compressed biogas. In the electriv vehicles segment, there is a need to spread awareness to take it up. Once a person rides an Electriv Vehicle, he will get hooked to it. It is easy and more importantly, it gives 300 km per hour per charge.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Tamilsai Soundararajan, Governor of Telangana State said, “I congratulate TSREDCO for helping state march forward and how policies are enforced to save energy. The department is doing exemplary work. The tree plantation drive, the Haritha Haram project is also supporting to save energy. Energy conservation is personal responsibility. India should be energy reliant when we celebrate 100 years of Independence. Today’s wastage is tomorrow’s shortage. We must save water. One neem tree is equal to four air-conditioners.”
