Hyderabad: Telangana, the youngest state and the hotbed of the IT growth in India, recently unveiled its Information, Communication and Technology Policy 2.0, further accelerating its IT and ITeS growth which is already on the fast track.
Telangana’s IT and ITeS growth stood at double the average national growth rate last year.
“Past year, Telangana saw a phenomenal 12.9 per cent growth in the IT and ITeS sector over the previous year with exports at Rs1,45,522 crore that is more than double the estimated average national growth rate,” IT and Industry Minister, KT Rama Rao said, releasing the policy at an event.
In the growing digital world, Telangana ICT policy 2.0, aims to establish clear goals, targets, expected employment generation, among other parameters in the IT and ITeS sector.
The TS ICT 2.0 is designed to take IT and ITeS beyond Hyderabad, over 50,000 jobs would be generated in Tier-I anf Tier-II cities establishing them as the IT hubs.
Telangana Government, the IT Minister said, plans to scale up IT export from the State to over Rs. 3 lakh crore in the next five-years as a result it would also see the employment in the IT and ITeS field touching 10 lakhs.
In the past year, many important investments happened in the State. At present, the direct employment in the State IT space stands at 6.5 lakh, informed the Minister.
