Hyderabad: The Telangana State Government appointed 10 senior IAS officers as the in-charge heads of ten state universities as the tenure of incumbent Vice Chancellors (VC) of these varsities ended on Tuesday.
Navin Mittal, IAS currently serving as the Principal Secretary Revenue Department has been appointed as the in-charge VC of Mahatma Gandhi University and M. Dana Kishore, IAS MAUD Principal Secretary will serve as in-charge VC of Osmania University.
Education Principal Secretary, Burra Venkatesham, IAS and Women and Child Welfare Department Secretary and Commissioner, Karuna Vakati have been appointed as in-charge VCs of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University and Kakatiya University respectively.
The state government issued these appointment orders to ensure continuity in administration and operations of the universities until permanent VCs are appointed.
Lookout committees have already been formed for all the universities to identify suitable VC candidates for these positions, and based on their recommendations the government will take final decisions on the appointments.
Syed Ali Murtaza Rizvi, energy secretary and Sandeep Kumar Sultania, secretary of panchayat raj, will be in-charge VC for Dr BR Ambedkar Open University and Telangana University respectively.
The tourism principal secretary, Shailaja Ramaiyer will look after Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University as the in-charge VC.
Jayesh Ranjan, special chief secretary will be in-charge VC for Jawaharlal Nehru Architectural and Fine Arts University and Nadeem Ahmed, planning principal secretary for Palamur University,
Meanwhile, K Surendra Mohan, IAS has been appointed as in-charge VC for Satavahana University.
