States Reopening Schools, Colleges From February 1st, do’s and don’ts required to be followed strictly

Seeing the current scenario & the declining cases of COVID-19, many states have lifted COVID-related restrictions and mainly the schools across states have been directed to resume offline learning by the state government. Reopening of schools, colleges, and other educational institutes from today, February 1, 2022 has been imposed. Here’s list of states that have ordered the reopening of schools and other educational institutions are listed below:

The Tripura government has issued an order allowing schools and colleges to reopen today for pre-primary to class 12. Earlier, classes for pre-primary to class 7 were suspended till January 30. Classes from 8 to 12 were, however, allowed to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines.

The Karnataka government has also ordered the reopening of schools and colleges in Bangalore from yesterday. The schools, colleges and universities in Tamil Nadu will reopen from February
1. The Tamil Nadu schools will be reopened for Classes 1 to 12.
The Madhya Pradesh government had ordered the closure of schools and colleges till January 31 in view of the rising cases of COVID-19.
The Odisha Higher Education Department has released a notification warning the students about a fake notice that is circulating on social media claiming that schools, colleges, and educational institutes in the state will reopen on February 10, 2022.

The Uttar Pradesh government has extended the closure of schools and colleges in the state till February 6. Earlier, the state government had ordered educational institutions to remain closed till January 30.

Telangana government has announced that all educational institutions in the state will reopen on February 1, 2022.

All the schools and colleges in the Pune district will reopen on February 1, announced Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Saturday

Schools will open for Class 10 to Class 12 from February 1 in Rajasthan and for Classes 6 to Class 9 from February 10. Students, however, will continue to have the option of online education.

There has been no official order regarding the reopening of Delhi schools and colleges.

All government and private schools in Haryana for Classes 10, 11 and 12 will be reopened from February 1. Online teaching will continue, in which schools and colleges will take necessary action by focusing on the preparation for the upcoming examination.

Guidelines for Health and Safety protocols for Reopening of Schools :

  • Ensure proper cleaning and sanitation facilities in the school
  • Form different Task Teams
  • Seating plan
  • Ensure Physical / social distancing at the Entry and Exit Points of the School
  • School SOPs based on guidelines from States/UTs
  • Display Signages and markings for enforcing physical/social distancing and safety protocols
  • Staggering timetables – some alternatives
  • School events, congregations, meetings
  • Parent’s/Guardian’s consent

Required do’s and don’ts including maintenance of hand hygiene, respiratory hygiene and disinfection of frequently touched surfaces Maintaining physical distance Hygienic practices necessary for the prevention of COVID-19 Stigmas attached to COVID-19 Thermal screening for fever detection Avoiding attending school if having symptoms and seeking medical care Staff and students belonging to containment zones shall not attend the school and other educational institutions until the containment zone is denotified. Students and staff shall be advised not to visit areas falling within the containment zone.

Along with the reopening of schools, students appearing for board examinations shall carry masks and hand sanitiser in the exam centers, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced. “Face masks and sanitisers may be carried by students in the examination center” CBSE Secretary Anurag Tripathi said in an official statement on their website.

“CBSE is receiving several inquiries from students and parents in view of the ongoing issue related to Coronavirus, with regards to permitting face masks and sanitizers at examination centers. In view of the inquiries received it is clarified that face masks and sanitizers may be carried by students, if they so desire, in the examination centers,” the Board said in a statement.
