State-of-the-art data centre inaugurated at BHEL Bengaluru

A modern, state-of-the-art data centre has been inaugurated by Union Heavy Industries Minister Mahendra Nath Pandey at BHEL Bengaluru. The data centre has been established as part of India’s celebration of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav‘. It is also a step towards BHEL’s digital transformation journey. The data center at the Electronics Division (EDN) is a consolidation of data centers of all the three Bengaluru-based units of BHEL – Industrial Systems Group (ISG), Solar Business Division (SBD), and EDN. Facilities of all three units have been co-located at one unit leading to optimization of IT infrastructure, reduction in operating cost and better data security.

SBD and ISG, are 12 kms away from EDN. A high-speed multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) is being used to increase the speed and to control network traffic flow. The data center is aimed to provide advanced solutions as per current requirements of the digital ecosystem. EDN has been playing a significant role in projects of national importance. Some of them are supply of integrated platform management system for the first indigenous aircraft carrier (IAC) Vikrant, development of traction systems for the country’s first AC-EMUs, supply of space-grade batteries and solar panels for space programmes etc.

During the inauguration, Union Heavy Industries Minister expressed happiness over the fact that BHEL is playing an integral role in the flagship programmes of the Government of India like Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives.
