Consumer electronics manufacturer, Samsung India has partnered with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) as part of its CSR initiative to train 50,000 youngsters.These youngsters would be made job-ready for the electronics retail sector through this initiative.
Through Samsung DOST (Digital and Offline Skills Training), the leading smartphone and consumer electronics goods company aims to execute youth training programme via training centres of NSDC that are spread across the country. Partnership between the CSR Teams of NSDC & Samsung India would drive in a much-required service to society.
As per the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Samsung and NSDC for the DOST programme, youngsters will receive 200 hours of classroom as well as online training. This would be followed by 5 months of on-the-job training at retail stores of Samsung. They would be earning a monthly stipend during this process.
The training would be based on the National Skill Qualification Framework and would focus on building of skillsets like, product demonstration & selling skills, customer engagement, managing sales counter, handling customer queries etc., thus preparing them for a career in electronics retail. Youngsters who have at least completed their school education will be selected as trainees. After the completion of on-the job training, assessments and certification would be done by Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC).
