The Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship launched a free online training programme on Artificial Intelligence, “AI for India 2.0”, while celebrating World Youth Skills Day, said PIB in a press release. It is a joint initiative of Skill India and GUVI. This NCVET and IIT Madras accredited online programme will enable the youth of India with frontier skills.
The Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, launched this AI skill development programme. This Python course is reportedly available in nine languages, including Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, etc. The programme mainly targets youth like college students, fresh graduates and early professionals on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for a safe and better tech career in future, as per GUVI.
While addressing the launch, the union minister mentioned that we should not allow emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence to be a prisoner of language. Hence, he announced technology courses predominantly in Indian languages. He also reminded this initiative is an excellent kick-start to eliminate the language barriers in technology education and future- proofing the nation’s Yuva Shakti, especially in rural areas.
He added that India is a technology-savvy country, and our country’s success story in adopting digital payments in India is a case in point. He also expressed his satisfaction with GUVI’s initiative to educate the people at the bottom of the pyramid on cutting-edge technologies.
Minister Pradhan appreciated and congratulated the novel initiative while envisioning better accessibility of AI education which reaches every corner of our country.
