Chennai: In a major administrative overhaul, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has approved promotions and transfers for 70 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers across the state, aiming to strengthen the police force and enhance overall law and order.
The government order includes elevated ranks for 30 senior officers and key new postings in critical divisions.
Highlights of the Reshuffle:
- 3 officers promoted to Additional Director General of Police (ADGP)
- 7 officers elevated as Inspectors General of Police (IG)
- 3 officers made Deputy Inspectors General (DIG)
- 15 officers as Superintendents of Police (SP)
- 2 officers appointed as Additional SPs
Key Appointments Announced
Among the notable postings:
- Maheshwar Dayal has been appointed ADGP (Law and Order).
- Amalraj takes charge as Commissioner of Police, Tambaram.
- Prem Anand Sinha becomes Commissioner of Police, Avadi.
Focus on Strategic Wings
The new order places officers in important wings, including:
- Armed Police
- Cyber Crime
- Economic Offences Wing
- CBCID
- Police Welfare
- Women and Children Crime Prevention
- Commando Forces
- Prisons
This annual exercise, traditionally announced around the end of December, reflects the state government’s ongoing efforts to refresh leadership in the police department and ensure administrative efficiency.
