Leaders take on future ready healthcare ecosystem

Leaders from different parts of the country shared their views on how to better the healthcare sector at the IndiGlobal Bharat Summit 2023.’ Here are excerpts from their talk

There is a need to improve the appointment systems at hospitals and improved clinical governance for the healthcare sector to make headway. Awareness among the people too will go a long way in better treatment. Taking medical insurance will help a great deal. In India, there is a great need to make people aware on the need and benefits of taking medical insurance said Dr. B Bhaskar Rao, Managing Director, KIMS Hospitals.

Health in India has two parts; one is elaborated from government side and another from the private side. As far as affordability is concerned, the Ayushman Bharat came into the picture which is the brainchild of the project called Arogya Shree that was implemented in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The quality decisions need to be made and the priority has to set right to give better healthcare across sections of population opined Dr. V Rakesh, President, Telangana Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association (THANA)

KT Devanand, Regional CEO Telangana & Andhra Pradesh Cluster Aster DM Healthcare said, “There are lots of best practices that we all try as an administrator. We all are struggling to make the process simpler, more robust more patient friendly. Now even after the patient is discharged a follow-up is happening on if the patient is happy with the treatment or not. Therefore, this kind of new practice has been evaluated. Many people can’t afford the treatment then what we tried is to reduce the cost of treatment by bringing in more efficiency in practice.”

Abhijit Singh, Chief Operation Officer (COO), Apollo Hospitals GS Road, Guwahati emphasised that healthcare is not just what happens today in the hospitals. It is before it, during the treatment and much after that. In Assam we have 11 medical colleges and the government is talking of eight more. There is a great trust on infrastructure development of healthcare which is going to address the cost challenge to a very large extent because as many more hospitals. We at Apollo are looking at healthcare more holistically that’s an objective to keep cost in control and to reach out to the wider population.

Prabin Bardhan, CEO & Vice Chairman CureTech Solution India Pvt. Ltd. & Kare4U Healthcare Solution Pvt. Ltd Telangana & Odisha said, “In the technology front, if we want to provide quality healthcare we need to build portable equipment. We have the largest number of 100 plus bedded hospital in India today.

Dr N N Dutta, CMD, Downtown Hospital, Guwahati said, “If you want to actually look at the quality treatment two things that one needs to ensure is the early detection of the disease for that you need to do certain tests for which we need machines. Healthcare is a very good opportunity in Assam.
