Hyderabad: Various education sector visionaries, entrepreneurs, and leaders shared their valuable thoughts at the ‘IndiGlobal School Leadership Summit’ on July 12th which made it a hugely successful event in the city. Over 150 education sector practitioners, bureaucrats, and policymakers attended the summit and emphasized further strengthening the education field by taking futuristic measures. The summit was organized to explore and address the evolving challenges and opportunities in the education industry.
On the occasion, Special Guest Dr. Sujiv Nair, Global Chief Human Resources Officer, RE Sustainability said that the foundation that is set in schools is extremely important. He highlighted that year on year, the dropout rates are reducing in India. “If you look at 15% dropout rate whether in India or any other country, in the next 10 years it would be 50% which is extremely concerning. I believe we have a learning crisis which means students are going to school but are they really learning. Are we looking at the asset of country as an educated mind or not?” he said.
Dr. Nair laid emphasis on enhancing learning capabilities of children that the bookish knowledge. He said practical teaching matters a lot and the way we teach makes a big difference to make the learning stick and develop educated minds in the country.
Shri Jasti Sheshagiri Rao, Secretary, VNR Vignanan Jyothi Educational Society congratulated IndiGlobal Media Network for organizing such a thought-provoking education summit to discuss key issues. He said global environment is changing fast and because of the pandemic the society have had to accelerate the process of connecting with each other through technology. The pandemic made us learn things quickly.
Shri Rao said the foundation of education is like making the foundation of a building to keep it safe in case of any natural disaster. Similarly, the school’s foundation must be strong to produce knowledge bank of our country in the form of educated children. “Educators and teachers should also learn new things and impart them to the curriculum. It is a continuous learning process. National Education Policy is coming up and it creates opportunities for people to meet aspirations and goals. A lot of flexibility is coming into the system and it is an opportunity for all of us,” Shri Rao stated.
Meanwhile, the summit’s Special Guest Dr. K Hari Prasad, Author, Healthcare Leader, Group Chairman, and Director, of Quality Care India Ltd enthralled the audience with his speech. He said the future is any country is built in schools and the only thing that is inevitable is ‘change’.
“I wonder whether our education system has changed over the past few decades. Every child has different aspiration and passion and anybody who allows these two things make kids strong. My school principal and faculty were kind enough to allow me to follow my passion which was playing cricket and at the same time allowed me to appear in exams. They supported me in both sports and academics which made me what I am today,” Dr. Prasad said.
He said how technology has changed school education and has made today’s kids smarter. “Children nowadays are using chatbots and virtual assistants to do their homework which was never possible 30 or 40 years back,” he said.
The presentations made Dr. P. Padmavathi, Principal, Vignana Jyothi Junior College and Dr. Chandrashekar, CEO, JGI Group of Schools, left the audience with many key takeaways.
In panel one, “From Conventional Assessment practices to New Age Assessment Tools”, senior Directors and Principals from DSR Education Society, Jubilee Hills Public School. Sadhana Infinity International School, MyEduGuru & FountainHead, Global School, Excellencia Infinitum School, and Meridian School participated and shared their vision on the next level of education for school kids. They also discussed some of the key burning issues that need to be addressed.
Similarly, in panel two, “Well-being of students and educators- Revolution of health and happiness”, representatives from schools such as Meluha International School, Ramky Education Foundation, Indic International School, Gitanjali Vedika School, and Apollo Sunshine Foundation participated. The panel became more interesting after the moderator laid emphasis on focusing on the inner self to bring up productivity and enhance the quality of education.
Panel three, four and five’s topic included, “New Age Innovations and Best Practices Redefining Schooling”, “How is NEP-2020 faring in School Education” and “Fostering Student Leadership Through Transformational Teaching”. The above panels were attended by Oakridge International School, Canary The School, Hello Kids of Chain of Pre-Schools & Riverstone Schools, VIP International School, Indic International School, Unicent International School, Mount Litera Zee School, Goa, Telangana Academy for Skill & Knowledge, Govt of Telangana, Meluha International School, Apollo SHINE Foundation and Indic International School.
Mr. Kishore Manohar, Director, Apollo SHINE Foundation said that the summit shed the light on some of core issues of the school education and it brought together leading school education leaders to discuss exemplary issues.
During a special fireside chat between Padma Shri Awardee Dr. Manjula Anagani, Clinical Director & HoD, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Care Hospitals, and Arete Hospitals, and Sudheer Goutham, Founder, CEO & Editor-In-Chief, IndiGlobal Media Network many interesting findings came out. Mr. Goutham asked a string of questions to Dr. Anagani on topics like enhancing productivity and the quality of education and how to manage stress in professional life. Dr. Anagani’s thoughts on the above topics brought cheers to the audience who asked multiple questions to her during the Q&A round. She spoke about how to manage work-life balance, how to bring joy to students, and how to manage day-to-day life with lots of positivity.
Mr. Sudheer said that the conference managed to successfully highlight the role of school education and why it has become important to adopt technology in the school education sector. Mr. Sudheer said that school education is the foundation of our country that needs to be made stronger in the coming years. “India’s GDP for education is limited compared to other developed countries hence the role and responsibilities of educators becomes more to realise the dream of becoming a Vishwa Guru,” Mr. Sudheer remarked, adding that the educators are like gold miners who help young children to shine in their respective lives.
In the end of the summit, seven awards were bestowed upon top schools who were selected by the jury and school kids were felicitated by Padma Shri Awardee Dr. Manjula Anagani, Clinical Director & HoD, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Care Hospitals, and Arete Hospitals and Shri Shrikant Sinha, CEO, Telangana Academy for Skill & Knowledge, Govt of Telangana.
Prestigious IndiGlobal Excellence Awards reflecting genuine merit of the individuals and institutions in the education field, after a careful examination of all the nominations by jury members, were given at the Summit
The awardees include “Hello Kids” team who won the excellence award as the South India’s Most Promising Preschool Brand-2024. Ms M Varalaxmi, Director, Jubilee Hills Public School, Hyderabad bagged the prestigious IndiGlobal Excellence Award for optimizing technology and integrating hybrid models in teaching and learning methods. Ms Prabha Devi Mukhiya, Principal, The Play School, Karimnagar was awarded the prestigious IndiGlobal Excellence Award for introducing innovative and creative pedagogy in early childhood education.
