Indians are highest in number worldwide to take at least 1 vaccine dose – eBook

Union health ministry has come up with an e-book. According to the e-book, India is top in categories like – highest number of people with at least 1 dose of Covid vaccine and also highest number of people to have completed the vaccination schedule when talking about worldwide figures.

The eBook provides following salient data in relation to Covid-19 vaccines as of September:

  • Average rate of vaccination in India is highest in the world
  • 62.54 per cent doses of the vaccine have been administered in vaccination centres in rural areas
  • 36.30 per cent of vaccines have been administered in urban areas
  • 73.44 lakh doses (approximately 1.16 per cent) have been administered at CVCs not tagged as rural/urban
  • 52.5 per cent of the total doses of vaccines have been administered to men
  • 47.5 per cent of the total doses of vaccines have been administered to women
  • 0.02 per cent of the total doses of vaccines have been administered to ‘other’ gender
  • 60.7 per cent of the adult population in the country has received at least one dose of vaccine
  • Over 181 million beneficiaries have been administered both the doses of vaccines compared to 178 million in the US
  • 100 per cent front line workers have been administered first dose
  • 84.7% front line have been administered both the doses
  • Approximately 244,310 COVID-19 Vaccination Centres (CVCs) are functional in the country

It has been mentioned by health ministry that “in the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (World as one family), Government of India has facilitated supply of 66.37 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to 95 countries as grants and supplies.”
