Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) launched the alumni portal ignoualumni.samarth.edu.in and a Facebook page alumni facebook.com/ignou.alumni with the aim to increase more connection within its alumni community. The portal got launched in a meeting chaired by Nageshwar Rao, Vice Chancellor of IGNOU. In words of Rao, these 
initiatives would be very helpful in integrating alumni with the institutional mechanism. He mentioned on the occasion that every year more than 1.75 lakh students complete their degree, diploma and certificate programs from the institution making it one of the largest alumni networks in the world.
Director of Campus Placement Cell, VP Rupam informed that while Facebook page will facilitate exchange of ideas and experiences and help in bringing the alumni on a common platform, the alumni portal would work as an updated database of registered alumni leading to enhancement in their engagement with the University.
IGNOU is also inviting applications for Student Innovation Award-2021. Students of IGNOU who have developed something innovative can submit their applications in the university prescribed form which can be downloaded from IGNOU’s website. Last date of submitting the form is 30th September.
