Hyderabad : GRIHA Council is set to host Regional Conclave 2024 in Hyderabad, Telangana, on 30th August 2024. The event will focus on the theme “Accelerating Climate Action in the Built Environment” and is supported by Ela Green Buildings & Infrastructure Consultants Pvt Ltd as the Knowledge Partner, along with ASAI as the Event Partner.
Following the success of its Regional Conclave in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, the Hyderabad Conclave is part of a multi-series initiative aimed at reaching out to the grassroots level for deeper penetration of the idea of sustainability and green building across the country.
The upcoming conclave is scheduled to take place in Jaipur, Rajasthan, in October 2024. These regional events serve as precursors to the 16th GRIHA Summit, which will be held in New Delhi on 4th-5th December 2024.
Objective of the Conclave
GRIHA Regional Conclave in Hyderabad will act as a platform to discuss the critical interdependence between communities and organizations in creating inclusive and climate-resilient infrastructure. The discussions will revolve around decarbonizing the built environment by 2050 and achieving India’s goal of becoming a ‘Net Zero’ nation by 2070.
Aligning with India’s vision of “Viksit Bharat @2047,” the Conclave will cover various aspects of development, including economic growth, social progress, environmental sustainability, and good governance. This event aims to foster dialogue on mitigation and adaptation strategies essential for creating sustainable infrastructure.

Climate Action in the Built Environment
The building and construction industry accounts for approximately 34% of global energy consumption and 37% of greenhouse gas emissions (UNEP, 2022). Addressing this challenge requires transformative efforts to revolutionize design processes, construction practices, and the management of urban spaces. GRIHA Council, through this Conclave, aims to promote sustainable practices within the built environment, advancing innovative solutions to combat climate change.

The event will also witness GRIHA Felicitation ceremony wherein prestigious GRIHA-rated projects will be awarded with their respective star ratings in the presence of the Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Information Technology & Industries, Government of Telangana. The felicitation ceremony will include projects from IIT Hyderabad Campus, and schools of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti that include PM SHRI schools. These projects have shown excellence in incorporating sustainability in building design and operation processes.
As part of the Conclave, GRIHA Council is organizing a green building tour on 31st August 2024, where participants will visit the Civil Aviation Research Organization (CARO) Complex at Begumpet Airport, Hyderabad, an aspiring GRIHA rating project. The tour will begin with presentations by GRIHA officials and the project team, including architects and green building consultants, followed by a guided walkthrough of the building that will showcase its key sustainable features, such as energy efficiency and water conservation methods. The event will conclude with a wrap-up session, offering opportunities for Q&A and networking.
