Dining tables for mid-day meals in government schools of Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh Government has launched dining table scheme in schools for mid-day meals. This scheme has been started from the Guna district of the state. So far, students in government schools have been sitting on mats spread on the floor to have their mid-day meals. The reason behind introducing dining tables is to serve meals in a more dignified manner to the students. Available resources would be used to teach children how to use basic cutlery, napkins etc. The idea is to raise the standards of government schools, whether it is about serving meals or teaching students how to eat so that they develop well-groomed personalities.

The dining tables are being made of cement and concrete and the surface would be made up of locally available stone and granite. The cost comes to about Rs 50,000 per school. Construction work has begun through the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). When the schools would reopen for all the classes, the students are surely going to be happy with this new development.
