Telangana a role model in education for rest of the country, says Education Minister

Entire country is looking up to initiatives and reforms undertaken in education sector in Telangana, Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy said on Monday. She was all praise for the dedication and resilience shown by teachers in testing times during the pandemic.
Sabitha Reddy was speaking at “Gurupujotsavam” programme organised by the education department on the eve of ‘Teachers Day” celebrated on September 5 every year.
Teaching faculty from University, Degree, Junior Colleges as well as School teachers, who were selected for Best Teacher Award-2022 were felicitated by Education Minister and her cabinet colleagues Mahmood Ali and V Srinivas Goud in the presence of Navin Mittal, Commissioner, Collegiate and Technical Education, Telangana, A Sridevasena, Commissioner and Director, School Education department, Telangana and Prof Limbadri, Chairman, Telangana State Council for Higher Education (TSCHE).


Addressing the packed hall comprising award winning teachers and their families as well as officials from different wings of the education department, education minister emphasized on jump in enrollments in government educational institutions in Telangana. Parents are shifting their children from private to state-run institutions in various districts, she stressed, pointing out to the huge response to admissions into Gurukuls (residential institutions from school till degree), a one of its kind initiative in the country courtesy of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
Sabitha Indra Reddy rued Centre’s indifferent attitude towards Telangana including the education sector. Funds that are due to the State are not being released which is very unfortunate, she lamented.
Earlier, Ministers Mahmood Ali and Srinivas Goud highlighted big strides made by Telangana after the formation of new State and under the leadership of CM KCR.
Meanwhile, Ravindra Bharati auditorium was packed to the hilt and even the huge parking area in the auditorium premises was filled completely for the teachers felicitation programme that was being held after a two-year break owing to Covid-19 pandemic.
