How is the winning mandate in the state elections taken?

The brand Modi – India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has been the face of the Centre ruling BJP, came under heavy criticism for the pandemic, then the punishing second wave and then the economic downturn.

The 2022 State Elections are considered as the referendum for Modi’s leadership. India, like any other country on the planet, suffered economically, business came down and jobs were lost. Despite all these challenges, brand Modi came victorious out of the Wuhan Virus waves unhurt and stronger.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the BJP party workers in the Delhi party office, indicated that 2022 assembly election results are the semi-final results for 2024 General Elections.

“It’s the celebration of democracy. I thank the voters for reinstating their trust, giving the verdict for our intentions for the country. I especially thank the women and youth of the country for sending out a clear message,” said Mr. Modi.

He also thanked all the BJP workers that their hard work on the ground could secure a win for National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in four states out of five that went to Assembly polls.

AAPs victory positions itself as the key challenger to BJP in the national politics

Victory in the State-controlled police meachinary in Punjab unlike in the union territory New Delhi, brings an opportunity for the AAP (with ambition of becoming a national party), to prove its mettle with good governance. Several instances in the past, AAP has been vocal in accusing the BJP ruled Central Government  causing hindrance and roadblocks in its governance with Delhi Police not in its power.

India’s grand old party Congress on a downslide

Meanwhile, the National Congress Party led by Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra faced a terrible defeat losing its government in Punjab and Manipur. Also failed to defeat the incumbency in Uttarakhand. NCP now has a government only in two states – Rajasthan and Chattisgarh.
