Visakhapatnam / Bengaluru:
In a landmark move for India’s tech ecosystem, Bharti Airtel and Google have announced a joint plan to build a data center hub in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, with a staggering investment of nearly $15 billion over the next five years.
The upcoming facility will feature:
1. A 1 GW data center campus
2. A subsea cable landing station to boost international connectivity
3. Extensive fiber networks linking major Indian cities
The project is aimed at powering India’s AI revolution, enabling high-speed computing, cloud, and generative AI applications across industries.

Gopal Vittal, MD & Vice Chairman of Airtel, called it a “defining moment for India’s digital future,” positioning Visakhapatnam as a global AI hotspot.
The initiative will be powered by clean energy, in collaboration with AdaniConneX, marking one of the largest AI-infra investments in South Asia.
