Hyderabad: Senior IPS officer C.V. Anand took charge as the Hyderabad Police Commissioner once again on Monday (September 9, 2024) replacing the incumbent K Sreenivas Reddy.
A 1991 batch IPS officer, Mr Anand’s first stint as the Commissioner of Hyderabad Police was earlier from December 2021 until the Election Commission of India (ECI) ordered shuffling of several IAS and IPS officers prior to the Telangana Assembly Elections, on October 11, 2023.
Prior to the recent posting, Mr Anand who served as the Director General of Police Anti-Corruption Bureau, Telangana could bring in effective deterrence among the corrupt officials in the State following multiple arrests and convictions outnumbering the previous records. These drives could also revive the image of ACB in the minds of citizens and government officials.
Upon the fresh transfers on Monday, Mr Vijay Kumar, a 1997-batch IPS officer succeeded Mr Anand as the DGP ACB, Telangana. Mr Sreenivas Reddy was posted as director general, Vigilance & Enforcement. IPS officer Mahesh M Bhagwat, ADGP (Law & Order) was given the full additional charge as ADGO (Personnel & Welfare).
