Aalaya Foundation sets up Eye Vision Centre at Basanth Nagar in Peddapalli

An air of festivity engulfed Basanth Nagar village of Palakurthi mandal in Peddapalli district on Tuesday as the son of the soil and founder of Aalaya Foundation Parikipandla Narahari, IAS, of Madhya Pradesh cadre realised one of his dreams of establishing Parikipandla Satyanarayana memorial Shankar Vision Centre in Basanth Nagar.

The Eye Vision Centre has teamed up with Shankara Netralaya and would facilitate free eye operations and also provide free transport of patients to Hyderabad for the operation. Speaking on the occasion, P Narahari said, “The family owes it to my father who ensured all five brothers and sister get good education. He also thanked all the volunteers of Aalaya Foundation who worked relentlessly for days to make the programme a success.” The eye centre is established in the memory of his father Parikipandla Satyanarayana.

It may be noted that Aalaya Foundation has been serving the needy especially in providing education, medical care and employment. It is playing an active role in providing artificial limbs, tricycles, wheelchairs and hearing aids for the specially-abled persons.

Aalaya Foundation organises programmes on health, education and employment and work extensively in Karimnagar, Adilabad, Nizamabad and Nalgonda districts especially reaching out a helping hand to handicapped, health camps, blood donation camps. During Covid-19, Aalaya Foundation reached out to the needy by supplying medicines, food and masks and oxygen concentrators to 500 patients and food to over 5,000 people.

In the field of education, Aalaya Foundation helps students in several schools and colleges and has helped 10 students study graduation along with civil services preparation. The foundation has also helped more than 2000 youth get jobs in hospitals and other companies.

 Till date, more than 50 blood donation camps with 10,000 units of blood administered. The Foundation teamed up with Red Cross Society and Pratima Foundation to help Thalassemia patients. More than 2,000 people were given a new lease of life with prosthetic limbs, hands, wheel chairs. Twice a year, Aalaya Foundation conducts camps for handicapped.

On the occasion of the opening of the Parikipandla Satyanarayana memorial Shankar Vision Centre, senior leaders such as Raghunandhan Rao, MLA, Dubbaka, Arvind Menon, National Secretary, co-in charge of BJP’s Telangana Affairs were present.
