Madhya Pradesh Transfers 12 IPS Officers, Appoints New Police Chiefs in Five Districts

Madhya Pradesh Transfers 12 IPS Officers

The Madhya Pradesh government has transferred 12 Indian Police Service officers in a reshuffle affecting district policing, the Police Headquarters in Bhopal and Special Armed Force battalions. The Home Department order was issued late on October 28 and reported on October 29.

Five districts get new SPs

Deepak Kumar Shukla has been posted as Superintendent of Police of Narmadapuram, while Amit Saxena takes charge in Betul. Savyasachi Saraf has been appointed SP of Panna, Ankit Jaiswal SP of Harda and Samar Verma SP of Alirajpur. These postings place new officers in charge of day-to-day policing and local law-and-order coordination.

Officers shifted to headquarters

Raghuvansh Kumar Singh has been posted as Deputy Inspector General at Police Headquarters in Bhopal. Saikrishna S. Thota and Shashank have been moved there as Assistant Inspectors General. Virendra Jain has been posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic, in Bhopal.

Changes in armed police units

Nivedita Naidu has been posted as Commandant of the 10th Battalion of the Special Armed Force in Sagar. Abhishek Anand has been assigned the 15th Battalion in Indore, with additional charge as SP of the Police Training College there. Shrutikirti Somvanshi has been moved to the 2nd Battalion in Gwalior, with additional charge of the 14th Battalion.

Administrative backdrop

The reshuffle comes amid scrutiny of policing and public demonstrations in parts of the state. Recent reports have connected some district changes with farmers’ protests, but the transfer order itself should not be treated as a finding of wrongdoing by any officer. The immediate significance is the change in police leadership across five districts and several specialised units.
