Centre Appoints IPS Officer Shrihari Pandey as Deputy Inspector General in CRPF

Shrihari Pandey

The Ministry of Home Affairs has approved the appointment of Indian Police Service officer Shrihari Pandey as Deputy Inspector General in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on deputation. The appointment was notified on October 26, 2026.

Pandey belongs to the 2011 batch of the IPS and is from the West Bengal cadre. Before the latest appointment, he was serving as Special Superintendent in the Intelligence Branch of the West Bengal Police, according to reports on the personnel change.

The move places him in a senior leadership position in the CRPF, one of India’s central armed police forces. The force carries out internal security responsibilities and supports operations in areas facing serious security challenges.

As Deputy Inspector General, Pandey will take up responsibilities assigned by the CRPF leadership. The specific formation or location where he will serve has not been detailed in the publicly available appointment notification.

The appointment forms part of the regular movement of IPS officers between state police organisations and central security forces. Such deputations allow officers to bring experience from state policing into national security assignments while gaining exposure to wider operational responsibilities.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has listed the appointment on its official Indian Police Service notifications portal. Further details about his posting and assumption of charge are awaited.
