The Andhra Pradesh administration has stepped up its preparedness ahead of an approaching cyclonic weather system, with senior officials reviewing the readiness of district authorities and emergency response teams.
Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad and Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta joined a review chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, as the government focused on protecting lives and keeping essential services running.
District collectors and officials across departments have been directed to remain vigilant, particularly in vulnerable coastal and low lying areas. The preparations include evacuation arrangements, temporary shelters, medical assistance and rapid restoration of power and other services if disruptions occur.
According to reports, 10 National Disaster Response Force teams and 11 State Disaster Response Force teams have been placed on standby. The emphasis is on close coordination between the civil administration, police and emergency agencies as weather conditions develop.
For residents, the immediate priority is to follow district administration advisories and avoid unnecessary travel in areas affected by heavy rain or strong winds.
