National Ayush Mission Kerala

Kottayam, Sep 19: Kerala once again reaffirmed its leadership in digital healthcare as its NextGen e-hospital platform and the A-HiMS 2.0 portal drew nationwide attention at the National Ayush Workshop held in Kumarakom. Experts lauded the state for pioneering IT-driven models that are transforming patient care and hospital management in the AYUSH sector.

The NextGen e-hospital is a one-stop digital solution that connects patients with doctors and hospitals, streamlining everything from registration to record management. Equally impressive is A-HiMS 2.0 (Ayush Homeopathy Information Management System), a comprehensive IT platform that manages the full spectrum of AYUSH healthcare delivery.

“Kerala has made giant leaps in e-governance within Indian Systems of Medicine (ISM),” said Dr. Manesh Kumar E, Nodal Officer (IT) and Chief Medical Officer, while presenting Kerala’s initiatives. He highlighted the Scan & Share OPD registration, powered by the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), which has significantly reduced overcrowding at counters.

Currently, three Kerala hospitals—District Ayurveda Hospital, Varkala; Government Ayurveda Hospital, Ayoor; and Government Unani Dispensary, Mogral—feature among 134 ABDM model hospitals across India. Notably, Ernakulam district has already completed NextGen implementation across all 82 ISM facilities.

The ISM Department’s network spans 818 dispensaries, 131 hospitals, 67 sub-centres, and 18 tribal dispensaries. Dr. Kumar stressed that the next goal is total digitisation of ISM facilities and wider adoption of ABHA-linked OPD registrations.

Organized by the National Ayush Mission Kerala with support from the Union Ministry of AYUSH, the workshop brought together experts who agreed that Kerala’s digital-first model offers a roadmap for modernising AYUSH healthcare nationwide.
