The CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) Class 12th and 10th exam results were declared today. 1,34,797 students secured more than 90% marks while 33,432 students scored above 95% marks in 12th exam results. A total of 20,93,978 students took the CBSE 10th exams this year. Out of this, 19,76,668 have successfully passed the exam. Also 2,36,993 students secured more than 90% marks while 64,908 students scored above 95% marks.
Meanwhile, The Central Board did not release the merit list for both 12th and 10th exams for the third year in a row. Exam Controller Sanyam Bharadwaj said that merit lists and division-wise marks will not be announced to curb unhealthy competition. However, students can check school-wise toppers from respective principals and teachers.
CBSE merit lists were also not announced in 2020 and 2021 because the board adopted an alternate assessment scheme since some or all the papers were cancelled due to Covid-19. Bhardwaj also said that CBSE was returning to its original formula of a single board exam in a year at the end of the academic year. Bhardwaj also said that the CBSE board exams 2023 would begin on February 15 and would be held once a year only.
Modi’s message to students
PM Narendra Modi took to Twitter to congratulate students in a series of tweets and also consoled those who did not score well.
The PM lauded the Class 12 students for preparing for the board exams even during Covid-19 and assured “exam warriors” of the “innumerable opportunities” that awaited them. He urged students to “follow their inner calling and pursue subjects they are passionate about”. This is something that many parents still do not tell their kids amidst the rat race for well-paying jobs across the world, the PM felt. Modi further stressed that one exam could never define them.
