8-year-old Indian boy becomes youngest person to scale highest mountain peak of Europe

Master Gandham Bhuvan Jai of Andhra Pradesh, India becomes youngest person to scale Mount Elbrus – the highest mountain of Europe which is also one of the seven summits. An elevation of 5642 metres, to reach the peak of Mt Elbrus requires mountaineering skills, and toughness to combat unpredictable weather. Master Bhuvan Jai, is a rare class 3 student who was able to do so. He hails from Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh. His father is a notable IAS officer. He has provided all encouragement to the child who has trained under the sports coach Mr. Shankaraiah. The sports coach along with Naveen Mallesh, and A. Anminsh Bhupathi Raju accompanied Master Bhuvan in the expedition.

Climbing Itinerary of Historical Feat:

11th Sep 2021 – Team started from India to Russia by flight

12th Sep 2021 – Reached the base of Mount Elbrus – Terskol

13th Sep 2021 – Climbed up to 3500mtr for acclimatization and back to base camp

14th Sep 2021 – Climbed to 3500mts and night halt

15th Sep 2021 – Moved to camp at 4000mtr. Climbed up to 4300mtr for acclimatization

16th Sep 2021 – Climbed up to 4800mtr for acclimatization and back to 4000mtr camp

17th Sep 2021 – Revision of Climbing techniques and practice

18th Sep 2021 – Reached the summit of Mount Elbrus – 5642mtr. (18,510ft)

Master Bhuvan Jai, credits his achievements to the opportunity provided to him by his parents. He believes that there are many talented children out there, who, if provided the opportunity, can achieve what they want to.
