20% increase in job offers at IITs

The placement season at IITs that starts in December and goes until May started on a high at various IITs in the country witnessing a 20% increase in job offers and several students offered Rs 1 crore and more package.

AT IIT Delhi, 650 full-time job offers had been made, of which 550 were unique job selections, including more than 250 pre-placement offers (PPOs). During this placement, 50 students bagged jobs with CTCs over Rs 1 crore.

Several companies from Hong Kong, Netherlands, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and United States evinced interest and about 20 students received job offers from abroad. Some students chose to accept domestic offers over those from abroad.

Comparing the last year’s highest package, this year, there was an increase in the packages given and number of the recruiters. The highest offer at the conclusion of phase 1 of the placement season last year was USD 287,550 for international candidates and Rs. 1.2 Cr. for domestic candidates.

Top recruiters including Square Point Capital, SAP Labs, Rakuten Mobile, Enphase, Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Company, and McKinsey & Company visited the IIT Delhi campus to conduct recruitment events.

0ver 800 job descriptions across several sectors are currently being offered by over 400 national and international organisations that have registered to hire students. There has been a 20% increase in the number of jobs offers received.

This year, the hiring processes are being conducted in both physical and virtual modes depending on the recruiter’s convenience. The placement period spans from December to May.

IIT Madras

There was an increase of 10% in the pre-placement offers over the 407 offers last year. At least 25 students were given offers of jobs with a salary of Rs 1 crore a year. This time the frontline companies that extended the offers were Texas Instruments, Bajaj Auto, Qualcomm, and JP Morgan.

IIT Guwahati

Till now, 290 offers from 84 companies have been received. Of these, five students were given offers of a compensation package of Rs 1 crore a year. Companies such as Microsoft, Google, Uber, and American Express were the ones which offered jobs. It marked an increase of 21% over the past year.

IIT Kanpur

Till now, there have been 519 job offers, including 207 pre-placement offers. A total of 488 students were assured of jobs on the first day itself. The highest salary package offered till now is Rs 1.9 crore per annum. An offer of Rs 1 crore was made to 33 students. Until now, 72 offers of international jobs too have been received. The number was 47 last year….

IIT Roorkee

A total of 365 offers, including six international job placements, have been received. Until now, the highest offer was Rs 1.30 crore per annum. An offer of over Rs 80 lakh per annum was received by 10 students. IIT Varanasi, Mandi and Gandhinagar students too have been receiving good offers.
