IndiGlobal Bureau

Telangana has won five beautiful buildings awards 2023 constituted by London based Green organization. Since 2016, the Green Apple Awards are given on an annual basis in London, UK. The awards seek to recognize enterprises, councils and communities who are doing their best. The Green Organization, established in 1994 in London, is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to recognizing, rewarding, and promoting environmental best practice around the world.

Among their awards is the “International Beautiful Buildings Green Apple Awards” that seeks to recognize a positive, attractive visual impact of the building on the larger area, among other parameters. The list of categories being considered is extensive; from residences to castles to museums to bridges to religious monuments to heritage structures and more. Previously, buildings like British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) in London; National Museum of Qatar, and Jalan Mahkota in Kuantan, Malaysia have won this prestigious Award.

The Government of Telangana, based on the confidence derived from its developmental outcomes, has time and again enlisted its projects and policies to be evaluated for global recognition. The World Green City Awards (2022), the Tree City of the World Award (2021), and the Living & Inclusion Award – Smart City Expo World Congress (2021) stand testimony to the global recognition being bestowed on the State’s achievements.

Extending this practice further, the Municipal Administration & Urban Development (MA&UD) Department with support from the National Institute of Urban Management (NIUM), applied for the ‘International Green Apple Awards for Beautiful Buildings’ award under the Urban & Real Estate Sector, on behalf of the State Government of Telangana.

Based on the applications made, the following five (5 nos.) entries have received awards in the urban sector:

c. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat Building ( in the aesthetically designed Office/workspace building category)

Yadagirigutta Temple (in the excellent Religious structures category) It is for the very first time that any building/structures from India are being awarded the prestigious Green Apple awards and Telangana gets the honour of receiving all five awards.

The Chief Minister has expressed his happiness on State getting five awards in five different categories and more so because it’s the first time, these awards are being received by Indian Buildings. This reaffirms the futuristic planning in building designs and architecture and will act as great impetus in the real estate sector in Hyderabad and Telangana.

The awards ceremony is scheduled to be held on 16 th June 2023 at London, UK.

Arvind Kumar (I.A.S.), Special Chief Secretary, MA&UD Department has been deputed by the State Government to receive these awards on behalf of the Government of Telangana.
