Smart City Thiruvananthapuram is all set to celebrate Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav from 1st-4th Oct

Ms. Arya Rajendran, Hon’ble Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram has been inviting all citizens for participating in the events to celebrate 75 years of India’s Independence (1st Oct – 4th Oct) which is being organized by Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation and Smart City Thiruvananthapuram Limited (SCTL). The events include Cultural activities, Marathon, Cycling, Skating activities, Yoga and Walking. Kananakunnu Palace will act as the Flag off Point for all these events which begins from 1st Oct, 06.30 am onwards. Various other events like Drawing competitions (Gandhi Jayanthi Themes), Best Selfie competitions (with I love Trivandrum Background), Group Plantation Photographs at Public Places, Best Blogger / Essay Awards) will also be held. Submissions can be made online.

Designated stretches in the city would be converted into cycling corridors for 75 hours from October 1st. The initiative is a step towards earmarking areas exclusively for cycling under the smart city project. As per the directive of the ministry of housing and urban affairs the smart cities may undertake a 75-hour urban transformation mission as part of reimagining and redesigning public spaces in smart ways. For this, 75 spots in the city are being identified so that a new look can be given to them in 75 hours. ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, is an initiative of the union government as part of celebrating 75 years of India’s Independence.
