R N Ravi, Governor of Nagaland is now Governor of Tamil Nadu

In a series of changes, Governor of Nagaland, R N Ravi got transferred as Governor of Tamil Nadu. So far Banwarilal Purohit had been carrying on the responsibility of the state as its Governor while additionally taking care of responsibilities as Governor of Punjab and administrator of Chandigarh as per the orders of the President. Purohit has been appointed the full-fledged Governor of Punjab now.

The newly appointed Governor of Tamilnadu, R N Ravi has been an interlocutor in the ongoing Naga peace talks since the year 2014. He had been serving as Governor of Nagaland since 2019. There has of late been sharp differences of opinion between him, some segments of Naga civil socity, and the functionaries of the Isak Muivah faction of Nationall Socialist Council of Nagaland. With his appointment as the Governor of Tamilnadu, till regular arrangements are made, Assam’s Governor Jagadish Mukhi has been given additional charge of Nagaland.

Amid the speculation of returning to active politics, Governor of Uttarkhand, Baby Rani Maurya tendered her resignation to the President. She stepped down 2 years before her term could end. Lt. Gen. Gurmit Singh (retired) took her position as the Governor of Uttarakhand.
