Omicron to PEAK and FALL in February

IndiGlobal Media Bureau

Omicron variant of Covid 19 is in community transmission in India but maximum RT-PCR tests are negative as the virus is moving out of the body fast. Indian Council of Medical Research Epidemiologists state that it is moving out in four days due to which the tests are negative.

Virus enters the body two days before the symptoms emerge. Symptoms of headache and body pains surface first and then the fever, cold and cough.

By the time, people opt for testing in maximum cases detection of the virus is not possible as it has already moved out of the body.

India has recorded 9672 cases of Omicron in the genome sequencing data released by The Indian SARS-COV-@ Genomics Consortium (INSACOG). The community transmission began in India from January 3 rd onwards.

In the state of Maharashtra and Gujarat the peak is expected in the first week of February. Mumbai the main metro city has already crossed the peak but there are still cases reporting due to the persisting cold wave in the region.

Ahmedabad, Surat and Baroda are expected to stabilize by February 15 th . Yet doctors from Indian Medical Association stated that the evolving situation must be monitored closely as there have been too many gatherings due to the recent Sankranti Festival.

Central Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had a review meeting with Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Puducherry, Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands as the peak is expected in the second week of February.

The cases reporting to hospitals are mild in vaccinated people and those who are not vaccinated but suffering from co-morbid conditions are reporting with serious illness.

Co-morbid conditions like those suffering from respiratory diseases, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, uncontrolled diabetes and cancers are reporting with severe illness if they have ventured out of homes.

Epidemiologists state that since there is a history of Covid 19 past infection and administration of two doses of vaccine, the response of the immune system to new variants is better. The new sub-lineage of Omicron BA.2 is milder and the host human body is able to tackle it.

Immunological memory to RNA viruses has been created with antibody, antigen model now in place in the host human body. This lock and key method show that the human response to new variants of SARS-Cov 2 virus has begun. The Omicron peak-plateau-fall- effect in India indicates that the country is in the beginning of Endemic Stage for SARS-Cov 2 group of viruses.
