IISC Bangalore and Calcutta University at top of ARWU ranking

The Shanghai Ranking Consultancy released the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) 2021. IISC Bangalore is at the top of the list of the best university in the country. Calcutta University has earned the 2nd place. ARWU ranking is an eminent and world recognised rankings of higher educational institutions. It is recognised as a trustworthy global universities’ ranking over the years. World’s top 1000 research universities ranking by use of transparent methodology and objective third-party data is presented by ARWU annually.

As far as the world universities are concerned, Harvard University has bagged the position of the best university in the world. Stanford University is at the second position and the University of Cambridge is at the third position. In the top 10 list of the world, eight universities are from the US and two from the UK.

Since the year 2009 ARWU, also alternatively known as Shanghai Ranking has been publishing university rankings annually. This organization is not legally subordinated to any university or government agency and has focus on higher education. It is regarded as one of the three most influential university rankings along with Times Higher Education World University Rankings and QS World University Rankings.
