IAS Chhavi Bhardwaj becomes the new MD of MP Metro Rail Corporation

Government of Madhya Pradesh appointed IAS Chhavi Bhardwaj as the new MD of MP Metro Rail Corporation (MPMRCL).Bharadwaj started her career as an assistant collector in 2008. She has worked as an Additional Commissioner of Tribal Development before. She was transferred and posted as Mission Director, National Health Mission, MP.

In 2013, Bhardwaj was appointed for the first time as collector in Dindori district of Madhya Pradesh. It was a district where most IAS officers did not stay for long. In a span of 17 years, 15 officers had been appointed there. After Bhardwaj joined Dindori, she became popular when she filed an FIR against the Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) of the area for offering Rs. 50,000 to her as a bribe. She went on serve Dindori for more than 2 years and developed great bond with the people there. She has mentioned in an interview that she would be keeping all the memories of her Dindori posting with her for life-long as it was memorable for her not just as an IAS officer but as an individual too.

She was appointed as Municipal Commissioner in Bhopal in 2016 and led the Smart City campaign of PM Narendra Modi well. Under her leadership Bhopal got the second position for the cleanest city in India’s Swachh Survekshan in 2018.

Bhardwaj was then transferred to Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) as the first woman collector of the city. She has earned a good reputation as a corruption-buster lAS officer over the years.
