Green India Challenge founder and Rajya Sabha MP Joginipalli Santosh Kumar has been named in the Limca Book of Records, which recognizes and acknowledges the achievements of Indians in the fields of Education, Literature, Cinema, Science and Technology, Defence, Social Services, etc. The prestigious certificate was presented to Santosh Kumar from the hands of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Tuesday.
The Limca Book of Records Editor Vatsala Kaul Banerjee said that J Santosh Kumar has been selected for the prestigious award in social service for undertaking a massive plantation in just one hour’s time. Limca Book of Records certificate was presented by Chief Minister Sri K Chandrashekhar Rao to Adilabad MLA Jogu Ramanna in the presence of Santosh Kumar on Tuesday.
The organization said that with the special initiative of Santosh Kumar, 3,54,900 saplings were planted in one hour at Durga Nagar in Adilabad district on July 4, 2021. The initiative witnessed direct participation of 16,900 people, who planted saplings. Each participant planted 21 saplings and it is the best feat in this category till date. The organisation praised Green India Challenge founders for the success of the massive plantation drive, which is a proof of collective effort and social awareness.
An elated Santosh said that Limca book of records validation and receiving the certificate from the hands of the Chief Minister increased the responsibility. He said the Adilabad MLA Jogu Ramanna was the main reason for achieving this record feat.
With the inspiration of KCR, Ramanna took the decision to plant saplings as part of the Green India Challenge on his birthday and planted more than 3.5 lakh saplings within an hour, Santosh explained. Santosh Kumar extended special thanks to Adilabad MLA and his followers, who did the legwork for a month to make the feat possible.
“This record is dedicated to Jogu Ramanna along with the nature lovers S Thimmakka, Vanajeevi Ramaiah and Jadav Payang who are tirelessly working to promote green cover and also to everyone who took part actively in Green India Challenge,” Santosh said. “Green India Challenge” representative Sanjiva Raghava and others were present.
