It would help in decongesting of power lines and help in efficient management of load during the time of high demand for electricity. It would also ensure uninterrupted power supply to the people of the national capital.
Government of Germany has provided assistance in the pilot project. The grid would be used to further enhance the power infrastructure of Delhi and come out with some innovative solutions. Power Minister’s aim is to endeavor in scaling it up to hundreds of megawatts. Plan is to install such grids in the capacity of 10 or 20 megawatts at different locations in the capital and make it reach up to 600 or 800 megawatts, so that energy fluctuation is minimal.
The power grid is unique as it makes use of solar panels to generate electricity. It has high-capacity energy storage batteries of 460 Kilowatt-hour (Kwh). This grid comprises of solar panels of 100 kilowatts peak (kWp), to generate energy.
